Jens Wardenaer

Research Associate for Armed Conflict


Main Responsibilities: Jointly coordinates the Armed Conflict Database, under the Armed Conflict Programme. Researches armed conflicts in Southeast Asia, including Myanmar, Philippines and Southern Thailand. Also has an interest in Japanese and Korean affairs, and participated in the Forum for Arctic Climate Change and Security.

Background: Jens holds an MSc International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a dual Bachelor of Arts and Asian Studies (Japanese) from the Australian National University. He has studied in Tokyo, and has worked for the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, on political and security issues. Speaks Norwegian and some Japanese.
