Research Associate for Defence and Economics

Main Responsibilities: Economics and defence-economics research for the IISS Defence and Military Analysis Programme (DMAP), including analysis of global trends in macroeconomics and finance, defence budgeting and expenditure, defence industrial organisation, military procurement and international arms transfers. 

Background: Giri holds a BSc (Hons) in Government and Economics and an MSc in International Political Economy, both from the London School of Economics. He subsequently studied law and completed the Common Professional Exam (CPE) before joining the IISS. Previously, he commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Singapore Armed Forces infantry, where he served in a variety of operational, ceremonial and staff appointments.
