Derek Chollet, Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, will give the latest IISS-US Policymakers Series Lecture on broader European security issues, including the Ukraine crisis and the evolving threat posed by the Islamic State.  Having recently returned from a trip to the NATO Summit in Wales and other European states with the Secretary of Defense, he will share his unique perspective on the breadth of security challenges facing the United States, its allies and partners.

Derek Chollet is the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs. He is the principal advisor to the Under Secretary of Defense and Secretary of Defense on international security strategy and policy issues related to the nations and international organizations of Europe (including NATO), the Middle East, Africa, and the Western Hemisphere.  He also has oversight for security cooperation programs, including foreign military sales, in these regions.
