On Tuesday 02 March 2010 experts from the IISS took part in a telephone confernce on “Countries of South-Eastern Europe and their future participation in European security”.

Chairman’s concluding comment:

 “ Each country of the region has its own unresolved security concerns; but there is a commonality of approach and understanding in two key areas:

  • Defence is best dealt with in a Euro-Atlantic framework

  • Asymmetric threats hinder progress to further integration into European structures"
