Britain's special representative to Afghanistan says he remains committed to help bringing peace to Afghanistan but the country needs long-term funding from all nations involved.
Sherard Cowper-Coles says the international community needs no new strategy for Afghanistan.
But he says a precondition for success in Afghanistan is substantial funding commitments to the Afghan state and its security forces by the international community.
Britain has come under increasing pressure from voters demanding its troops pull out of Afghanistan.
But Cowper-Coles says "while Obama remains committed, we remain committed."
He spoke at a conference of the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies in Geneva Saturday.
