31 Jul 2008 - - New Straits Times - Clouds of doubt over SAARC summit
Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama, during several visits to Southeast Asia to participate in the Shan-gri-La Dialogue and Asean security-related gatherings, stressed that global terrorism had to be fought glob-ally and needed the support of all nations.
28 Jul 2008 - - America.gov - United States Supports India's Civil Nuclear Pact
A proposed U.S.-India civil nuclear accord could make ample energy resources a more likely possibility with final approval by early fall this year. The nuclear accord would bring India into the nuclear nonproliferation mainstream, help India meet its growing energy needs while protecting the environment, and deepen the strategic partnership between many nations and India, says Ambassador Gregory Schulte, the U.S. permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The US expected China and Pakistan to take a positive view of the India safeguards pact and not force a vote when the IAEA board meets on August 1.
26 Jul 2008 - - Agence France Presse - Thai-Cambodia crisis underscores Asean’s weakness
Tim Huxley from the International Institute for Strategic Studies in Singapore said the mild response showed Asean was “still underdeveloped as a security grouping.” “For many years Asean has talked about doing more in the security sphere,” he said. “If it’s going to maintain its relevance it’s going to have to try a bit harder.”
25 Jul 2008 - Regional Times - Pakistan’s commitment to fight terror is unswerving: Qureshi
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday has said that Pakistan is committed to the prevention of nuclear proliferation and our commitment to fight terrorism has been unswerving. He expressed these views in his address at International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), London on “Imperatives for Peace & Prosperity in South Asia - Pakistan’s Perspective”.
