The Shangri-La Dialogue has been recognized as a key event for defence and security diplomacy for the region. The Defence Minister Shri AK Antony leaves New Delhi tonight for Singapore to attend the Sixth Asia Security Conference (The Shangri-La Dialogue - 2007). Shri Antony will address the second plenary session on China and India : Building International Stability.

During his three-day stay in the island country, the Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with his Singaporean counterpart besides the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mr. Rohitha Bogollagama, the US Secretary of Defence Dr. Robert M Gates, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Cambodia General Tea Banh, the Japanese Minister of Defence Mr. Fumio Kyuma, the Minister of State for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom Mr. Adam Ingram, The Secretary General of National Defence of France Mr. Francis Delon, the Secretary of National Defence of Philippines Mr. Hermogenes E Ebdane Jr, the Minister of Defence of Australia Dr. Brendan Nelson and the Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh General Moeen U Ahmed. Shri Antony will also call on the Singaporean Senior Minister Mr. Goh Chok Tong, the Singaporean Minister Mentor Mr. Lee Kuan Yew and the Singaporean Prime Minister Mr. Lee Hsien Loong. Shri Antony will return home on June 03, 2007.
