Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa yesterday urged constructive dialogue to overcome challenges facing the region.

He was speaking as he delivered a lecture on the Gulf region's security challenges at the invitation of the Paris-based Institut des Etudes Politiques (Institute of Political Studies).
The initiative came following the Manama Dialogue conference.
He also reiterated the keenness of Bahrain and other GCC countries to achieve this goal through close co-ordination with international organisations, particularly the International Atomic Energy Agency.
"The GCC countries plan to launch a peaceful nuclear programme, complying with international transparency standards" he said.
While he acknowledged the legitimate right of Iran to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, he also astressed the need to abide by international transparency requirements and building confidence.
