India's National Security Adviser M. K. Narayanan has warned Persian Gulf states to brace for a new wave of al-Qaeda terrorist attacks.

Narayanan told a regional security conference in Bahrain on Sunday that the recommendation is based on the intelligence gathered by India.

New al-Qaeda training camps had been established along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, from where the new generations of super-tough and committed terrorists were coming out, Narayanan said.

He told the meeting that key leaders and infrastructures like oil pipelines, storage depots and tankers were at higher risk of being targeted by groups like al-Qaeda.

This is the first time in recent years that New Delhi has used its intelligence inputs to caution other countries at a public forum.
