Manpower Minister and Second Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen, has attended a key regional security forum in the Gulf.

The Manama Dialogue, which is held in Bahrain from 7 to 9 December, brings together the national security establishments of participating states from the Gulf and beyond to exchange views on regional security challenges.

SINGAPORE: Manpower Minister and Second Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen, has attended a key regional security forum in the Gulf.

The Manama Dialogue, which is held in Bahrain from 7 to 9 December, brings together the national security establishments of participating states from the Gulf and beyond to exchange views on regional security challenges.

Countries represented at this year's dialogue include the Gulf Cooperation Council members (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE), Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Turkey and Yemen.

Other countries from outside the region at this year's event include Australia, China, India, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Singapore has been attending the Manama Dialogue since its inception in 2004.

On the sidelines of the forum, Dr Ng met with Kuwaiti President of the National Security Bureau, Shaikh Ahmed Fahad Al Sabah, British Minister of State for the Armed Forces, Bob Ainsworth and Indian National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, M K Narayanan.

Dr Ng also called on the Crown Prince of Bahrain, Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.

Dr Ng has also met Bahrain's Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Dr Majeed bin Muhsin Al Alawi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Shaikh Dr Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Labour Fund, Dr Nazar Sadiq Al Baharnah.
