Manama: An international forum to tackle terrorism and the use of the latest information technology by terrorists will be held in Bahrain before the end of this year, government officials and organisers have said.

The Middle East Homeland and Global Security Forum to be co-organised by Bahrain and the CransMontana Forum on November 19-22 will bring together senior international government figures and experts to review the security situation in the Gulf and agree on ways to address internal and external risk trends.

"The forum will be highly significant for security strategists and planners, particularly with the increase of dangers from terrorism, smuggling, clandestine emigration, money laundering and drugs," Bahrain's interior minister Shaikh Rashid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa yesterday.

The forum will take place two weeks before the Manama Dialogue, the regional security summit organised by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies, is held in the Bahraini capital.

But, Jean-Paul Carteron, the chairman and founder of the CransMontana Forum, said that there was no intention to replace the Dialogue.
