SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, opening a regional security conference on Friday, said a nuclear Iran would have a 'seismic effect' not just on the Middle East, but on the world.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that the cooperation of Russia and China was necessary to help resolve the impasse over Iran's nuclear problem.

'If Iran acquires nuclear weapons or becomes the subject of unilateral action, it will have a seismic effect on the Middle East and beyond,' Mr Lee said.

His words came as six nations meeting in Vienna came up with a package of incentives that they hope will persuade Tehran to stop its suspect nuclear activities.

The weekend meeting of regional defence chiefs - including US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld - is expected to also focus on China's rising military power, as well as US-Asia security relations, the rise of India, maritime security cooperation, counterinsurgency and regional security concerns.
