June 3rd - - Brunei Bulletin - Brunei At Asia Security Parley

Senior Officials from the Brunei Ministry of Defence are attending the 5thAsia Security Meeting currently being held in Singapore organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and officially opened by the Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, yesterday.
 
Scheduled to speak at the meeting includes US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and his counterparts from India and Japan.

Bandar Seri Begawan - Senior Officials from the Brunei Ministry of Defence are attending the 5thAsia Security Meeting currently being held in Singapore organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and officially opened by the Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, yesterday.
Scheduled to speak at the meeting includes US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and his counterparts from India and Japan.
 
Sixteen defence ministers or their deputies as well as several chiefs of staffs are taking part in the dialogue which was inaugurated in 2002 in Singapore. The dialogue has been held annually since then.
Countries participating in this year's summit include Australia, Britain, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, east Timor, the US, Vietnam and Singapore.
 
National security and regional security will be among the agenda for the participants. It is also reported that other issues to be discussed during the plenary session will include the presentations on the dynamics between the US military and Asia's emerging security architecture, talks on China and India as well as ways of armed forces involvement for international security.
 
Tim Huxley, director of the IISS-Asia was quoted as saying that he expects issues on the security of the Malacca Straits to also be discussed.
