Addressing the annual conference of the International Institute for Strategic Studies currently being held in Bahrain, he said that the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction will drive moderate countries that call for a Middle East region free of weapons of mass destruction to secretly or publicly build nuclear programmes with a view to striking a military balance in the region in defence of their interests, achievements, and beliefs.
Prince Muqrin Bin-Abd-al-Aziz, chief of the Saudi intelligence services, has stressed that the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the region complicates security issues and gives the regional countries the right to adopt policies and forge alliances with the countries that possess nuclear technology.
