Bahrain will host a security conference to discuss emerging threats to the Gulf.
Sponsored by London-based Institute for International Strategic Studies and Bahrain, the ‘2006 IISS Manama Dialogue’ will be held from December 8 to 10.
“In order to recognise Bahrain’s support in establishing the IISS Gulf Dialogue in its first three-year cycle, the IISS has renamed the summit the Manama Dialogue,” organisers said.
“The regional security summit will further establish the importance of the dialogue as the main vehicle for regional security diplomacy,” the organisers said in a statement. They said the conference would have significant input from outside the region.
The Crown Prince, Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, will deliver the keynote address on December 8, followed by US National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley.
