General Ehsan-Ul-Haq, Chairman Joint chief of Staff Committee has termed nuclear proliferation as a serious issue. Addressing as chief Guest at a joint Seminar on New Security Perspective by Institute of Regional Studies, IRS, and International Institute of Strategic Studies, IISS,  London, he said in the environment of global terrorism, nuclear proliferation's become a serious issue.

Rawalpindi, November 21 (PPI): General Ehsan-Ul-Haq, Chairman Joint chief of Staff Committee has termed nuclear proliferation as a serious issue. Addressing as chief Guest at a joint Seminar on New Security Perspective by Institute of Regional Studies, IRS, and International Institute of Strategic Studies, IISS,  London, he said in the environment of global terrorism, nuclear proliferation's become a serious issue.
 
He however underlined the need of resolving issues with Iran through dialogue. He also said while Pakistan's nuclear capability was the result of our security calculus in view of threat perception, we share the objective of promoting non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
 
He mentioned that strategic location of Pakistan at crossroads of South Central and West Asia and its status in Muslim world can be utilized for initiating an effective and multi faceted inter and intra regional cooperation.
 
On Indo Pakistan peace process he expressed that through CBMs heave enhanced communication and promoted transparency but there is a need for taking concrete steps to resolve all issues between both countries. The humanitarian aspect of unprecedented devastation caused by 8 October earthquake further highlights the urgency to seek a just political resolution of Kashmir issue, he added.
 
The seminar focused on four globally important issues. US Security Perspective, global Nuclear Weapons Prospects, Iraq and beyond and Pak - India peace process. Renowned Pakistani and International scholars address the participants.
 
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee appreciated the efforts of Major General (Retired) Jamshed Ayaz and IRS for educating all sections of society on vitally important issues through seminar. Earlier, Major general (Retired) Jamshed Ayaz in his opening remarks thanked the speakers and participants and highlighted the importance of debating these issues. The large number of national and international attended the seminar.
