South Korean Defence Minister Yoon Kwang-ung is scheduled to meet US Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld in Singapore on 3 June, ministry officials said.
 
"The two ministers were invited to the same Asian security meeting which will be hosted by a British institute," said an official.
 
"Although they did not set concrete or detailed subjects for the talks, they may exchange opinions about various topics such as the North Korean nuclear issue, relocation of US Forces Korea and bilateral cooperation," the official said.
 
Dubbed the Shangri-la talks, the Asian-Pacific Defence Ministers meeting, first held in 2002, is being arranged and hosted by the International Institute for Strategic Study from 2-4 June.

Seoul, 26 May: South Korean Defence Minister Yoon Kwang-ung is scheduled to meet US Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld in Singapore on 3 June, ministry officials said.

Dubbed the Shangri-la talks, the Asian-Pacific Defence Ministers meeting, first held in 2002, is being arranged and hosted by the International Institute for Strategic Study from 2-4 June.
 
The South Korean minister will arrive in the afternoon of 2 June.
 
Yoon will give an address at the meeting on 4 June titled, "Weapons of Mass Destruction: Challenges and countermeasures in the Asia-Pacific region, a South Korean point of view."
 
Before attending the meeting, Yoon will visit Australia from 30 May-2 June at the invitation of his Australian counterpart Robert Hill.
 
In Australia, he will exchange opinions on various topics such as cooperation on the two countries' defence, sales of military weapons and peaceful ways of encouraging North Korea to abandon its nuclear ambitions.
 
The minister is also to meet the country's foreign minister, Alexander Downer, to talk about Australia's support for peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.
