Australian Defence Minister Robert Hill has praised Southeast Asia for its progress in the area of security, particularly in securing sea routes through the Malacca Straits.
He made the remark at a defence meeting in Singapore on June 6. He said that the progress in security was due to the co-operation between Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

Hill will leave for China in a bid to further military relations between the two countries.
