Afghanistan will face a tough future after Western powers pull
their combat troops out of the country by the end of 2014, an IISS
expert said Friday.
"The best realistic scenario is for slow, grinding, uneven,
hard-won progress. It is going to be very difficult to rebuild, to
extend the capabilities of the Afghan state." Nicholas Redman of the
London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), told
Xinhua in an interview.
