Saturday, April 19, 2008 (New Delhi) - Should America have the right to tell India when and where it can use weapons systems procured from the US?

The answer, as far as Indian Navy Chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta is concerned, is no.

The Navy Chief on Saturday made it clear that the country's defence establishment is not willing to accept restrictive clauses in some of the agreements that the United States wants India to sign.

He lashed out at US intrusiveness, and said that as a sovereign nation, India has the right to decide what to do with its military and its equipment.
