Research Analyst; Administrative Assistant to the Director of Transnational Threat and Political Risk
Responsibilities: Conducting research and developing project proposals for research projects on transnational issues; compiling data for and assisting in the development of the Non-State Armed Groups database; providing administrative support to the Director for Transational Threats and Political Risk and to the Senior Fellow for Conflict and Defence Diplomacy.
Background: Virginia graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in 2005 with First Class Honours in War Studies and American Studies. Following the completion of a Master's degree in Intelligence and Strategic Studies at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, she began working at IISS where she was part of the Military Balance team and conducted research on Sub-Saharan Africa. Virginia also spent six months working for the intelligence unit of a private security company where she focused mainly on the Persian Gulf region, the Maghreb and Afghanistan. She also had a previous brief experience with a strategic intelligence company.
