Coordinator, Armed Conflict Database; Global Conflicts Analyst
Current project: Coordinates and leads the Armed Conflict Database and supervises its team of research assistants within the Transnational Threats and Political Risks Programme. The database provides data and analysis on over 70 armed conflicts, focusing on historical backgrounds, military and political developments, economic and humanitarian costs, non-state armed groups, and real-time events monitoring.
Background: Hanna Ucko worked as a press officer at the United Nations headquarters in New York and Geneva for four years. Her main focus was human rights and development issues, as well as peace and security issues within the Security Council and the General Assembly. Previous work includes positions as communications advisor for the World Health Organization and as a media consultant for the United Nations Development Programme, both in Geneva. She holds a MSc in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and Asian Studies, as well as a BSc Econ in International Relations from London School of Economics.
