Special Assistant to the Director-General and Chief Executive

 

Sarah Grant has worked in France, Belgium, the USA and the UK.  During her early career she worked as assistant to a lawyer at the Cour d'Appel in Paris and as personal assistant to Mrs Laura Ashley.  From 1980 to 1984 she was personal assistant to the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Assembly - the NATO parliament - with special responsibility for the Standing Committee, the Assembly's governing body.

 

In Washington DC, from 1987 to 1990 Mrs Grant worked initially for the Aga Khan Foundation USA and then as International Affairs Assistant (Europe and the Middle East) at the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC, where she contributed to 'Europe 1992, A Practical Guide for American Business'.   She subsequently moved to Hawaii, where she was Administrative Director of the Republican Party of Hawaii from 1991 to 1993.

 

After returning to the UK, from 1997 to 2005 Mrs Grant worked in the financial sector, starting as personal assistant to Dr Gordon Lindsay, CEO, first at SG Warburg & Co Ltd, CISD, and then at RBS Trust Bank and The Bank of New York, and was closely involved in relations with all three parent banks.  Following Dr Lindsay's retirement, for the past three years she has worked as executive assistant to the Head of European Funds at BNY.

 

Mrs Grant read modern languages at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and completed an MBA in Export Administration at City University, London.
