Membership Development Manager
Responsibilities: Yaniss Aiche is responsible for membership marketing and stewardship, prospect research and overall development. Working closely with the Director of Development and Membership, Yaniss Aiche is supporting the IISS initiatives to raise funds and launch the 50th anniversary campaign, develop new corporate activities and briefings, and expand the organisation’s scope and influence geographically and thematically in order to increase membership globally.
Background: Yaniss Aiche has extensive experience in international relations, beginning his career as personal councillor to the Flemish Minister of Foreign Affairs in Belgium. During his time with the Flemish government, he was involved in various international initiatives including reconciliation efforts in Kosovo, the WTO Doha development agenda, NEPAD formation, and UNESCO forums. He was instrumental in increasing Flanders’ development aid and international foreign policy focus in post-conflict regions. In 2004, he joined VOKA, Belgium’s largest employers’ association, as Manager of the International and Legal Departments. There, he established wide-ranging relationships amongst large multinationals, SMEs, the European Commission, and various foreign governments and diplomatic agencies. His key focus involved providing strategic commercial and legal advice to companies wanting to expand operations and influence in foreign markets. Yaniss holds an MA in International Law from the University of Gent and a postgraduate degree in International and Area Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. He is fluent in English, Dutch, French, Arabic, with a basic knowledge of Spanish.
