On Tuesday 1 April 2008, the Hon. Rohitha Bogollagma MP (Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka) delivered an address on "Post-Conflict Development: Efforts of a Democracy".
The Hon. Rohitha Bogollagama, MP has been the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka since January 2007. He previously served as the Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion, Minister of Advanced Technology and National Enterprise Development, and Minister of Industries. He has been a Member of Parliament since 2000. Minister Bogollagama served as the Spokesman for the Government Delegation in peace talks with the LTTE in Geneva in 2006. He has spoken and participated in various international meetings, including the 14th SAARC Summit in New Delhi; the World Economic Forum in Davos; and the 4th IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.
The Hon. Rohitha Bogollagama has also served as the Chairman and Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cement Corporation. As a member of the legal profession for over 30 years, his expertise in trade, shipping and commercial law took him on several assignments for negotiations and dispute settlement in Europe and Asia. He also represented several international firms during his career at the bar.
