A British think-tank says Iraq does not possess the facilities for production of nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, Iraqi parliamentarians are calling on the United States to learn lessons from September 11 and change its hostile policy towards other nations.

The London based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) said on Monday Baghdad does not have nuclear arms and probably lacks means to deliver its residual chemical and biological weapons effectively to cause massive loss of life.

"It would require several years and extensive foreign assistance to build such fissile material production facilities. It could, however, assemble nuclear weapons within months if fissile material from foreign sources were obtained," said John Chipman, director of IISS.

The same day, the Iraqi government took journalists on a tour of the Tamuz nuclear reactor 40 kilometers south of Baghdad. The US says it's being used by Iraq to build weapons of mass destruction. Iraq denies the accusation, saying it's now used solely for peaceful purposes.

Iraqi parliament members warn against any attack, calling on the US to adopt what they call a reasonable policy.

"The United States regime is using September 11 as one of the reasons to punish Iraq or punish other Middle East countries, Arab or non-Arab, which is wrong. I hope American people will realize this and not listen to the propaganda of their regime, the Zionist propaganda," said Bahnam Abu As-Souf, Iraqi MP.

Iraq says the United States will face more grave consequences if it continues its current policy.
