About the Armed Conflict Database

  

The IISS Armed Conflict Database (ACD) is an authoritative online source of data and provides independent analysis on current and recent conflicts.

 

Features

  • Contains the latest information on all conflicts, including political developments, military trends and the types of weapons being used.

  • Details on the parties involved, and analysis on the human – including fatality and refugee numbers.

  • The ACD provides an historical background, event timeline and annual assessment, for each conflict.

  • A list of selected non-state armed groups, their estimated strength, origin, political or ideological aims, and areas of operation is also included.

 

Functions

  •  The user can browse through the different year-on-year reports and fact sheets online.

  • The user can generate targeted reports on conflict data back to 1997 and correlate reports from various years, conflicts, regions and topics.

  • The database is updated with regular reports and weekly timelines.
