16 Mar 2005 - Lt. General Munir Hafiez - Pakistan's Fight against Corruption

On 16 March 2005 the IISS hosted a Round Table Discussion with Lt. General Munir Hafiez, Chairman, National Accountability Bureau, Government of Pakistan. Lt. General Hafiez spoke about 'Pakistan's Fight against Corruption: Problems and Prospects'.

Lt. General Munir Hafiez, Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) was appointed Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau in 2002. He is also the Chairman of the Implementation Committee of the National Anti Corruption Strategy.
 
Earlier, General Hafiez served as a Corps Commander in the Pakistani Army. In his 38 years of service, he has held other prestigious appointments, including Command of a Strike Infantry Division/Two Infantry Brigades, and Commandant of his parent Mechanised Infantry Battalion. He also served as Director General of Infantry. He was a Senior Pakistan Army Officer in Saudi Arabia with the Royal Saudi Land Forces, including the period of the first Gulf War.
