24 Mar 04 - Eurasia Strategy Seminar - Dr Sergei Markov - Putin's Second Term

On 24 March 2004 Dr Sergei Markov, Director of the Institute for Political Studies in Moscow led a Eurasia strategy seminar on "Putin's second term."

Dr Markov is one of the leading Russian political analysts and the head of association of political consulting centres in Russia. He is also the head of Russia’s Public Forum on International Affairs and a professor at Moscow State University. Dr Markov is an advisor to the Russian foreign minister and presidential administration on foreign policy issues.
 
President Vladimir Putin won the presidential election on 14 March 2004 with over 70% of the votes cast. Dr Markov will be assessing the new challenges that will face Putin in his second term. Dr Markov will discuss the role and key personalities in the newly appointed government. Finally, Dr Markov will focus on new priorities for Russia’s foreign and security policy over the next four years.
