Ambassador Heikki Talvitie, EU Special Representative on the South Caucasus spoke at a Eurasia Strategy Seminar on June 22, 2004. Ambassador Talvitie covered the key priorities in EU policy towards the South Caucasus, including an increasing EU role in promoting peaceful resolution of “frozen conflicts” in Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Nagorno-Karabakh. The ambassador elaborated on the development of an EU strategy towards the region and the implications of the inclusion of three South Caucasus states in the EU’s European Neighbourhood Policy.
