On 18 December 2003 Prof. Alexander Rondeli, Dr. Sergei Markov, William Boe, Losif Diskin and Vladimir Shkolnikov discussed European, US and Russian Policies towards Georgia: Searching for a Common Strategy at an IISS Eurasia strategy seminar.
Prof. Alexander Rondeli, President of the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies and Dr. Sergei Markov, Head of Civil Forum on International Affairs, Adviser to the Russian Government will address the topic, “Challenges and Opportunities for post-Shevardnadze Georgia”. Then, “the Role of External Actors: Areas of Convergence and Divergence of priorities and strategies” will be discussed by William Boe, EU Council (policy unit), office of the EU special Representative for South Caucasus, Iosif Diskin, Adviser to the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation and Vladimir Shkolnikov, Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) (the OSCE perspective). It is hoped to draw forward-looking conclusions on whether a common strategy is possible and/or desirable, what the key building blocks and obstacles to this are.
