  • Visit of Cho Kun-Shik 2004 Conference NE Asia 12On 11 June 2004 Cho Kun-Shik, Vice Minister for Unification, Republic of Korea, visited the IISS to discuss the prospects for the Six Party Talks on the North Korean nuclear crisis. The meeting brought him into contact with British parliamentarians and London-based Asia analysts.
  • Second Annual IISS North Korea Workshop 2004 Conference NE Asia 06As part of its expanding para-diplomatic activities, the IISS at its London headquarters from 18-19 May 2004 convened a meeting to address the security ramifications of North Korea's nuclear activities, and to assess the essential components of any negotiated solution to the current crisis.   • US Policy towards North Korea Ambassador Charles Pritchard at the IISS.As part of the IISS Korean Security Programme, Ambassador Charles L. Pritchard gave a stimulating and well attended presentation to the IISS on 31 October entitled ‘The Bush Administration’s Policy Towards North Korea and Next Steps in Resolving the Nuclear Crisis’. His remarks traced, from an insider’s perspective, the development of the current crisis and provided many insights into the forces shaping US policy on this highly contentious and tangled issue.
