Wang Zaixi, Vice-Minister, Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, China, visits IISS
On 18 October 2004, Vice-Minister Wang Zaixi of the Taiwan Affairs Office of China’s State Council brought a substantial delegation to the IISS to discuss Beijing's policy towards the cross-Strait dispute. Vice-Minister Wang, who was in the United Kingdom for consultations with senior British officials, is one of the leading Chinese officials dealing with cross-Strait policy and a prominent spokesman on this matter. This visit provided a rare opportunity for a detailed, off-the-record discussion of sensitive issues with IISS Senior Staff members and a small number of invited outside experts.
