Sun Qingju, Vice-President of the Central Party School (CPS) of China, visited the IISS on 14 October 2004 to explore scope for deepening collaboration and exchanges between the two organisations. His delegation included members of the CPS Institute for International Strategic Studies. The CPS is a large official academic organisation with responsibility for training members of the ruling Communist Party for various positions in local and central government. Sun Qingju’s visit marked the third consecutive year in which the IISS has received a CPS delegation at this level. Adam Ward, Senior Fellow for East Asian Security, and Oksana Antonenko, Senior Fellow for Russia and Eurasia, briefed Vice-President Sun on their respective programmatic activities.
