The IISS Programme on Gulf and Middle Eastern Security focuses on the connection between regional and global security challenges, including:

The IISS-Middle East includes a Regional Office in Manama, as well as on-going programs, workshops, conferences and research projects in London and Washington.
The IISS hosts two major annual conferences in the Middle East, the Regional Security Summit “The Manama Dialogue” and the Bahrain Global Forum.
The Manama Dialogue provides a forum for national security leaders of the participating states to discuss regional issues. The forum is made up of governmental delegates from the Middle East and outside powers with security interests in the Gulf. The next Manama Dialogue will be held on 11-13 December 2009.
The Bahrain Global Forum convenes international delegates to debate current trends relating to the global economy and assist in the development of public policy to manage geo-economic changes. The Bahrain Global Forum will be held on 14-16 May 2010.
