Defence and Military Analysis

Emerging threats to global security are forcing a reassessment of military concepts, structures and technologies. The IISS Defence and Military Analysis Programme (DMAP) examines these changes. This department is responsible for the institute's flagship publication, The Military Balance. Through this and other targeted projects, it analyses national military and security capabilities; reform and modernisation of armed forces; the impact of new technologies; defence spending and procurement; and the defence industrial base.
