  • 07 February 2011 - Report Launch - The IISS Transatlantic Dialogue on Climate Change and Security Launch of the final report of the The IISS Transatlantic Dialogue on Climate Change and SecurityIn 2008 the IISS launched The IISS Transatlantic Dialogue on Climate Change and Security (TDCCS) to establish a forum in which policy-makers, opinion-formers and experts within the Transatlantic community and beyond could examine and debate the security implications of climate change. On Monday 7 February a panel of experts prsented the report which outlines the most critical findings and policy recommendations of the project.
  • 26 January 2011- IISS-US Discussion Meeting - The Results of the IISS Transatlantic Dialogue on Climate Change and Security US launch of the Final Report of the Transatlantic Dialogue on Climate Change and Security: Günter Hörmandinger, Andrew Holland and Esther McCLureAndrew Holland, the Programme Manager of the IISS Transatlantic Dialogue on Climate Change and Security,presented the findings and recommendations from the IISS two-year study of the impacts of climate change on transatlantic security on 26 January 2001 at IISS-US in Washington DC.

David Fairhall, Former Defence Correspondent for the Guardian speaks on “The Rapidly Melting Arctic: Opportunity or Danger?”David Fairhall, former defence correspondent for the Guardian, discussed the themes of his recent book 'Cold Front'. As the ice cap shrinks, the entire Arctic geography is changing - clear shipping channels and opening up hitherto tinaccessible oil resources. Investigating the Arctic's pivotal role in international relations, Fairhall weighed the huge opportunities for trade and transport against the dangers of Arctic conflict.
  • 28 May 2010 - Capstone Conference- The Global Security Implications of Climate Change Transatlantic Dialogue on Climate Change and Security On Friday, May 28, the International Institute for Strategic Studies convened a conference on The Global Security Implications of Climate Change in Brussels Belgium. The conference was held at the European Commissions headquarters, in the Schuman Room of the Berlaymont Building. Approximately 80 people, including representatives from government, academia, and the private sector participated. Participants came from at least five continents.

Andrew Parasiliti, Executive Director, IISS-US, and Corresponding Director, IISS-Middle East, moderated the discussion.
  • 27 April 2010 - IISS-US Ambassadors' Forum - Arctic Security and Climate Change Dr Andrew Parasiliti, IISS-US Executive Director, Dr John Chipman, IISS Director-General and Chief Executive and His Excellency Wegger Chr. Strømmen, Ambassador of Norway to the United States.On Tuesday, April 27, His Excellency Wegger Chr. Strømmen, Ambassador of Norway to the United States, addressed the IISS-US Ambassadors Forum on Arctic Security and Climate Change. Ambassador Strommen also briefed IISS members on the maritime delimitation agreement between Norway and the Russian Federation, signed earlier that same day. Dr. Andrew Parasiliti, IISS-US Executive Director, moderated the programme. In attendance was Dr. John Chipman, IISS Director-General and Chief Executive.
