Armed Conflict Database
The IISS
Armed Conflict Database provides analysis of war, insurgencies or unrest in one dozen African countries, with an archive of another ten or so dormant conflicts. The ACD offers weekly timelines, regular updates, and annual reports on political, military and humanitarian developments. As well as recording reported clashes and encounters, fatality figures, refugee flows and the role of non-state armed groups in ongoing conflicts, the database also examines the progress of peace talks, post-conflict disarmament, demobilisation and rehabilitation programmes, and elections results in African democracies.

Oppenheimer Lecture

The IISS has been hosting the Oppenheimer Lectures, delivered by eminent African personalities, since 2006. The series is sponsored by African businessman Nicky Oppenheimer and his family, after he himself appeared at the IISS in 2005.
