Volume 14, Issue 6 of Strategic Comments, the Institute's online journal has just been published.The first article, All change at the Pentagon is free to all readers,  with the remaining four; The military in disaster relief, The Africa Partnership Station, Insurgency in Ingushetia and The US–Russian nuclear balance accessible to IISS members or Strategic Comments subscribers.

New Adelphi Paper

Selective Security: War and the UN Security Council since 1945 by Adam Roberts and Dominik Zaum.

In contrast to the common perception that the United Nations is, or should become, a system of collective security, this paper advances the proposition that the UN Security Council embodies a necessarily selective approach. Analysis of its record since 1945 suggests that the Council cannot address all security threats effectively.  Read more on this Adelphi Paper.

Israel-Europe Dialogue

On 28-29 May, the IISS hosted a special day and half  on the 'Israel-Europe Dialogue' in conjunction with the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) of Tel Aviv. Read more on this event>
