The IISS welcomes anyone under 30 and who is in full-time education to join under the preferential terms of Student Membership. This category of membership is primarily intended for graduate students, although undergraduates may also apply. Student Members receive The Military Balance, The Strategic Survey and Survival; are eligible for invitations to meetings; and have access to the IISS Library. Officers of the rank of Major and below, and equivalent ranks in other armed services, who are under the age of 30 are also entitled to the preferential terms offered under the Student Membership scheme. Student Membership costs £80 per annum.
Applicants are required to provide a copy of attestation from their academic institution confirming the name and dates of their course, as proof of their student status. A further valid copy will be required with each subscription renewal.
