Prof Dewi Fortuna Anwar was C.V. Starr Distinguished Visiting Professor in Southeast Asian Studies at the SAIS (Johns Hopkins University) in Washington DC from January to May 2007. She is the Director for Program and Research at The Habibie Center, Research Professor and Deputy Chairman for Social Sciences and Humanities at The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), and a member of the Board of Directors of CIDES (Center for Information and Development Studies).
Dr Anwar briefly held the position of Assistant to the Vice President for Global Affairs (May-July 1998) and that of Assistant Minister/State Secretary for Foreign Affairs (August 1998-November 1999), during the Habibie administration. Dr Anwar had worked as a Research Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore (1989) and as a Congressional Fellow at the US Congress in Washington D.C. (1990-1991).
Dr Anwar is a Member of the International Council, the Asia Society, New York, a Board Member of The Asia Australia Institute in Sydney, a member of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission (WMDC), based in Stockholm, and a member of the International Advisory Board of the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy, ANU, Australia.
