Günther Nonnenmacher, Dr.phil.habil., M.A. was born on November 2, 1948, in Karlsruhe, Germany. He studied Political Science, History, Philosophy and Law at the Universities of Freiburg i.Br., Frankfurt/Main and Heidelberg 1973 he received an M.A. in Heidelberg and the degree of Dr.phil. in 1975.
From October 1975 to October 1982 he was Assistant Professor in the Political Science Department of the University of Wuppertal. He received his Ph.D. (Habilitation) in 1982 with a thesis on the evolution of political philosophy from 1650 to 1800. Since October 1982 he served as an editor in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. He was appointed Senior Foreign Editor in 1986 and became a Member of the board of publishers in 1994.
