Friday 23 October, 12.30- 2pm at Arundel House

On September 7-15, a group of international scholars and journalists took part in the annual “Valdai Club” programme organised by the Russian State Information Agency RIA Novosti.  As in past years, the visit included lengthy meetings with President Dmitry Medvedev, Prime-Minister Vladimir Putin,  Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov,  First deputy Prime-Minister Igor Shuvalov, the Aide to President Medvedev and G8 sherpa, Arkady Dvorkovich, the heads of Gazprom and Rosneft, and other officials.  The three speakers, who took part in the visit, will share their impressions from these meetings and offer their perspectives on whether and how the economic crisis has changed Russia’s thinking about its own prospects and about its relations with the world.

The meeting will be chaired by Oksana Antonenko, IISS Senior Fellow for Russia and Eurasia and it will take place in the Lee Kuan Yew Conference Room at Arundel House, 13-15 Arundel Street, Temple Place, London WC2R 3D.
