07 Oct 2009 - Discussion Meeting - Assessing Iranian Nuclear Developments

Mark Fitzpatrick speaks on "Assessing Iranian Nuclear Developments"

On Wednesday 7 October 2009 Mark Fitzpatrick, Senior Fellow for Non-proliferation, spoke on “Assessing Iranian Nuclear Developments”.

Listen to the discussion.

Developments concerning the Iranian nuclear issue have been moving at a fast pace.  Revelation of the second enrichment facility at Qom, intelligence agency and internal IAEA assessments about Iranian work on weapons development, and the outcome of last Thursday’s meeting in Geneva create a new and often conflicting picture of Iran’s capabilities and intentions and prospects for a diplomatic solution.  Mark Fitzpatrick, Director of the IISS Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Programme, will lead a discussion meeting to help IISS members understand what it all means.

The discussion meeting was chaired by Dr Dana Allin, Editor, Survival, and IISS Senior Fellow for US Foreign Policy and Transatlantic Affairs.
