On Tuesday 10 March 2009, Dr Emanuele Ottolenghi, Executive Director of the Brussels-based Transatlantic Institute, will speak on ‘Stopping Iran from Building a Nuclear Arsenal’ from 11am-12pm.
What would the world look like if Iran acquired nuclear weapons and what can the EU do to prevent it from happening? Dr Emanuele Ottolenghi will discuss the answer he provides in his just-published book, Under a Mushroom Cloud: Europe, Iran and the Bomb. Drawing on extensive research, including interviews with senior officials and diplomats, security and intelligence personnel of many countries involved in the effort to stop Iran developing a nuclear bomb, the book provides his account of the strategic threat to Europe, and offers an original list of practical recommendations for European policymakers.
Dr Emanuele Ottolenghi is the executive director of the Transatlantic Institute. A political scientist by training, he came to Brussels in 2006 after having previously taught Israel Studies at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies and at the Middle East Centre of St. Antony’s College, Oxford University.
This meeting will be chaired by Mark Fitzpatrick, Senior Fellow for Non-Proliferation, and will take place on the fifth floor at Arundel House, 13-15 Arundel Street, Temple Place, London WC2R 3DX.
