“Priorities for NATO’s New Strategic Concept”

On Thursday 18th June The IISS, in cooperation with NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division, is organising a reception and panel discussion on “Priorities for NATO’s New Strategic Concept” from 6-8:30pm.

 

At its 60th anniversary summit in April 2009, NATO initiated the process of drafting a new strategic concept to be adopted in 2010. The IISS invites you to discuss priorities for the new concept with a group of practitioners and researchers:

 

  • Rear Admiral Jorgen Berggrav, Representative of the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, NATO

  • Dr Mats Berdal, Professor, Department of War Studies, King’s College London

  • Mr Lukasz Kulesa, Research Fellow, Polish Institute of International Affairs

  • Mr Steven Sturm, Director for Defence Policy and Capabilities, NATO International Staff

  • Brigadier General (ret.) Dr Klaus Wittmann, former Director of Studies, NATO Defence College


Dr Bastian Giegerich, IISS Research Fellow for European Security will chair the discussion. The event  and will take place in the Lee Kuan Yew Conference room at Arundel House, 13-15 Arundel Street, Temple Place, London WC2R 3D. The discussion will be preceded by a reception from 18.00-18.30.
