Lewis Dunn and Paul Bernstein speak on “The Nuclear Agenda: A View from Washington”

 

 

On Wednesday 17 June 2009 Dr. Lewis Dunn,Senior Vice President,  Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), and Mr. Paul Bernstein, Vice President,  Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) will speak on “The Nuclear Agenda:  A View from Washington” from 3:30-4:30pm.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

IISS is pleased to welcome Dr. Lewis Dunn and Mr. Paul Bernstein from SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) to lead a discussion meeting on perspective from Washington on nuclear policy and non-proliferation developments, focusing on: 

  • The NPT Review Conference,

  • CTBT ratification,

  • the nuclear abolition debate,

  • US-Russia arms reduction talks,

  • the US Nuclear Posture Review, and

  • Ballistic Missile defenses.     

Dr. Lewis A. Dunn is a Senior Vice President of SAIC, where he has been responsible for many US government-sponsored projects on issues such as preventing proliferation and managing its consequences; future threat reduction and arms control initiatives; responses to the threat of WMD terrorism; avoiding intelligence surprise; and deterrence planning and requirements (including deterrence of WMD terrorism).   He served in the 1980s as Assistant Director of the US Arms Control and Disarmament Agency  and remains a regular consultant to various US government agencies.  His most recent publications include articles entitled   “Why Has the American Homeland Not Been Attacked Again?” (co-authored with Dallas Boyd and James Scouras) in The Washington Quarterly  and “The Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons: An Assessment,” in The Nonproliferation Review.

 

Paul I. Bernstein is a Vice President with SAIC, where he specializes in analysis and project management in the areas of weapons proliferation, strategic forces policy, and regional security and is engaged in a number of efforts to examine the future nuclear landscape and future directions for U.S. nuclear policy. He is the author of several articles on these matters, including ‘International Partnerships to Combat Weapons of Mass Destruction’, (Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction, 2008).


This meeting will be chaired by Mark Fitzpatrick, Senior Fellow for Non-proliferation and will take place on the Fourth Floor at Arundel House, 13-15 Arundel Street, Temple Place, London WC2R 3D.
