On Friday 03 July 2009, Ambassador Ian Cliff, Head of the UK Delegation to the OSCE will speak on “After Corfu: The OSCE and the future of European Security Architecture” from 12.30-1.30pm.
Following his attendance at the Corfu Informal Foreign Ministers meeting on 27-28 June, Ambassador Cliff will address the IISS to discuss recent developments in the OSCE, and particularly, how the organisation is responding to increasing Russian pressure for a new European Security Architecture.
Ian Cliff started his career in the Foreign Office in 1982 and was posted in Khartoum, New York and Vienna. From 2001-2005 he was UK Ambassador Bosnia and Herzegovina and from 2005-2007 Ambassador to Sudan. He has been heading the UK’s delegation to the OSCE since 2007.
This event will be chaired by Christopher Langton, Senior Fellow for Conflict & Defence Diplomacy and will take place on the 4th floor at Arundel House, 13-15 Arundel Street, Temple Place, London WC2R 3D.
