On Wednesday 25 February 2009, Dr Jonathan Pollack, Professor of Asian and Pacific Studies and the US Naval War College will speak on ‘The North Korean Nuclear Conundrum’ from 11am-12:30pm.
Recently returning from Pyongyang, Seoul, Tokyo and Beijing in connection with a detailed study of the North Korean nuclear problem, Dr Pollack will discuss his impressions on the internal politics of North Korea, the attitude of regional powers to the North Korean threat and the role of the US in containing it.
Dr Pollack was previously affiliated with the Rand Corporation, where he served in a wide array of research and management capacities. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and was a Postdoctoral Scholar at Harvard University. In addition to the Naval War College, he has also taught at Brandeis University, UCLA, and the RAND Graduate School of Policy Studies.
This meeting will be chaired by Mark Fitzpatrick, Senior Fellow for Non-Proliferation, and will take place on the Fourth Floor at Arundel House,, 13-15 Arundel Street, Temple Place, London WC2R 3DX. Seating will be limited.
