On Tuesday 08 December 2009 Colonel General Nikolai Bordyuzha, Secretary General, Collective Security Treaty Organisation, spoke on “The Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) and Regional Security Challenges in Eurasia".
Colonel General Nikolai Bordyuzha graduated from Perm Military School of the High Command of the Russian Strategic Rocket Forces in 1972 and later attended KGB intelligence courses in Novosibirsk. From 1989 to 1991 he was Head of KGB human resources, and from 1992 to 1998 served as First Deputy Chief and later Chief of Russia's Federal Border Guard Service. In December 1998 he was appointed Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, and also Chief of the Russian presidential administration. He served in this position until March 1999. From 1999 to 2003 Colonel General Bordyuzha served as the Russian ambassador to Denmark. In April 2003 he was appointed Secretary General of The Collective Security Treaty Organization. He has been awarded with Russia's Medal of Courage and Medal of Friendship (2005).
